On September 25, at the Vrancart paper factory in Adjud, the official inauguration of the new combined heat and power (CHP) plant with a capacity of 15 MWth, fueled by Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), took place — a first in Romania’s paper and pulp industry.
The event was organized by HoSt Bioenergy Systems, the project’s general contractor and technology provider, together with Aplind, HoSt’s local partner in Romania, which played a central role in the development and implementation of the project.
On September 24, guests — including representatives of local authorities, international partners, and industry experts — were welcomed at the hotel for the accommodation session and a networking dinner, designed to facilitate open discussions and idea exchange between participants.
September 25 was dedicated to the actual visit to the new plant. The program included a detailed project presentation and an interactive Q&A session led by Jelle Klein Teeselink, CEO of HoSt.
The event was attended by representatives of Vrancart, HoSt, Aplind, local authorities, and other strategic partners.
The inaugural moment was marked by an official ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Participants had the opportunity to join guided tours of the plant, organized in strict compliance with safety standards and led by HoSt technical experts. Visitors were impressed by the scale and technological level of the facility — a state-of-the-art “waste-to-energy” incineration and cogeneration plant, characterized by high efficiency and sustainability. The implementation of this project stands as a solid example of effective collaboration between HoSt, Vrancart, and Aplind, who maintained excellent communication throughout the development process.
The new plant represents a significant reference point not only for Romania but also at the European level, being one of the most advanced units of its kind in the region.
The event took place in a positive atmosphere, and the inauguration successfully marked the completion of a strategic project for the local industry and the transition toward sustainable energy solutions.
